CLIENT TESTIMONIES

Angela (5/13/03)
Hello,
My name is Angela A.  I just want you to know how the Lighthouse Shelter helped me to build my life back.  I came to Ron and Sandra needing help.  These wonderful people made sure that I had a place to stay, food to eat, and clothes to wear.  They also made sure that I had my personal things as well.  But most of all they helped me to learn how to trust in the Lord and to know that all things are possible with the Lord.  I just want to say "thank you" Lighthouse Shelter for showing me a new way to live and may God bless you with all your needs.

— Angela A.

P.S. Thank-you God for putting the Lighthouse Shelter in my life!

Anonymous (2004) (Excerpts from a client's testimony)

This is my testimony....To God be the glory! On January 28th my children and I were kicked out of our home— literally. We were able to go to a friend's to stay a few days with her. But because of her situation, we were not able to stay longer. About 6 months before this, my mother had gotten a Lighthouse Shelter business card from a computer shop where she went and had her computer worked on. I kept that card with the feeling I might need it one day. Thank God I did. God was certainly with me when I found Ron Fielder and his family. He took my family to a hotel and we stayed for 3 days. In that 3 days they helped me more than I thought was possible. I had no idea what God would do for me. When I thought it was the end of anything good, God showed me it was just His beginning. After being taken to the Star of Hope shelter, God began to show me and lead me to get all the necessary things done that had been put off or forgotten about previously. I soon realized that I had been here for a reason. I met wonderful people, annointed greatly by God, to help us through what has been the toughest time in my life so far. God opened doors for me everyday to get things done quickly. I've been here for a month and a half and God has blessed me with an apartment, the opportunity to go back to school and get my certification in pharmacy technology, and to be able to support myself and my children. But the blessings are so abundantly more than I could have thought or even imagined.....
I could keep going on and on about all of the blessings and wonderful people He's put in my path, but I feel it's sufficient to say that He has shown me that He is my Heavenly Father and will never leave me nor forsake me!

When I walked into Second Baptist Church about a month ago, I was homeless without a job nor a penny to my name. I hadn't eaten all day, and was starved. I talked with Carmen in Pastoral Care, and she made a few calls. Ron Fielder with Lighthouse Shelter called her back, and said that he would be willing to meet with me and hold an interview to see if I would be willing to meet their criteria for aid. Upon meeting with him, a lot of questions were asked about my circumstances, and background. I was extremely nervous, because I was a recovering addict, and an ex felon. I was afraid that they wouldn't help me. But I was 100% honest. Mr. Fielder assured me that those were in the past, and the goal was to get me on my feet again. I was taken in by open arms, and loved as an equal. Over the next few weeks, I was blessed beyond belief. One member of the committee brought me dinner at the church the day that I arrived. For Christmas, I was able to be a part of the shelter's celebration. All of my needs were taken care of, and I was given the means to be able to start caring for myself. Ron and Sandra helped me with clothes, airtime for my cell phone, a down payment for my car, and most of all, spiritual guidance. I have found a family within the Lighthouse Shelter. I truly believe that God puts people in our paths for a reason. My walking into Second Baptist Church was no mere coincidence. It was God's plan for the next step I was to take. I now have my own housekeeping business, and a car. I am able to continue my college education, and am making plans to get on my feet so that I can be able to help someone that is in the situation that I once was in. Scripture says that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I am living proof of that. Lighthouse Shelter has been such a blessing to me, and Ron and Sandra are a gift from the Lord above. Thank you to all who have helped me.

SPIRITUAL, PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL. THE LIGHTHOUSE SHELTER HELPS CHANGE LIVES.

There are numerous other people that Lighthouse Shelter has helped out. They stop by for a meal, some clothes, or a drink of water, and leave with the good news that Jesus Christ offers us the living water of eternal life. Thanks to our generous donors we were able to fill a temporary void for these people and offer them a way to permanently fill the void. WOULD YOU like to be a part of this ministry? Please prayerfully consider donating your time, talent, and/or treasure to the Lighthouse Shelter.
